Small Business Insurance That is Competitively Priced and That Provides the Gold Standard in Protection in 3 Fast and Easy Steps
Tie ShopTie shops specialize in the retail sale of men's neckties and bow ties. Ties can range from those in simple, solid colors to ties depicting zany images. Ties may be sold along with other men's accessories, such as cufflinks, belts, gloves and hats. Mail order services may be available. General Liability Insurance for Tie Shops – Good housekeeping in a tie shop requires that all visitor areas are swept or vacuumed daily. Care should be taken to ensure merchandise is secure on shelving units and display cases. Walk space between displays should be wide enough for customers to pass through without bumping into anything. All public restrooms should be kept sanitary and any wet spots should be cleaned up immediately and marked with appropriate “wet floor” warning signage to prevent slips and falls. Workers’ Compensation Insurance for Tie Shops – Employee training at a tie shop should include the instruction of ladder safety, proper lifting techniques, use of a razor blade to open stock cartons and basic first aid. Additionally, employee work areas, walkways and break rooms should be cleaned daily and kept free of clutter. All employees should know the proper procedure for reporting and documenting any work injury. Business Auto Insurance for Tie Shops – Tie shop employees may be required to run business errands. When employees use their own vehicles for company travel, their MVR’s should be checked and verified for acceptability and they should be required to carry a Personal Auto policy with minimum Auto Liability limits of at least $300,000 combined single limits. Property Insurance for Tie Shops – The inventory in a tie shop increases the risk of fire. Ties are made of flammable material, as are many wooden display units. To minimize the risk of fire all stock rooms should be kept orderly, trash and cardboard should be removed daily and flammable liquids should be kept in minimum amounts away from ignition sources. If a fire should breakout, HVAC system fans should be programmed to automatically shut down in an effort to reduce the spread of smoke and toxic fumes. Customer theft is a risk for tie shops due to the ease with which merchandise can be concealed in a purse or pocket. Expensive items, such as silk ties and cufflinks, should be kept in an area that is easily monitored by employees or in a display case that requires customers to ask for assistance to access. Crime Insurance for Tie Shops – Employee theft and embezzlement risks for tie shops can be minimized by conducting thorough pre employment screening. All applicants should be required to undergo a criminal background check, reference check and offer post employment drug testing. Routine drug screenings are recommended for all employees. Additionally, dispersing banking duties among several employees will ensure that one employee cannot steal funds without being in direct collusion with another employee. Frequent financial and inventory audits are also recommended. Burglary and robbery are a concern for tie shops. Bank deposits should be made frequently to limit the amount of cash that is kept on premises. A central station burglary alarm should be installed and checked regularly. Two employees should be present when opening and closing the store and at all other times if possible.
